Triathlon
I finished! It was actually a lot of fun. I finished in 1 hour 37 minutes 42.78 second. I feel really good about the run. After the busy start and once I got settled into my pace I passed a bunch of people and I improved my personal best (I certainly felt like I ran the 5K better than I have in the past.) My 5K split was 29 minutes 47.78 seconds. (My first transition spilt was 57.86 seconds) Unfortunately, the bike is the longest section of the whole race, and my weakest. My bike split was 57 minutes 40.64 seconds. The whole 10 mile bike ride I was being passed left and right (mostly on the "Left!") I rode the entire time, though-even up the big incline on 400 South (twice!) even though I saw several people get off their bikes and walk them up (that looked a lot easier, but I had too much pride to get off.) When I finished the bike ride I got to the pool-eventually- (this transition time was 1 minute 11.58 seconds) through throngs of people who had already finished the race and were just milling about in the middle of the race path (I mean I know I'm not fast, but I wasn't THAT slow). I was able to pass quite a few people in the pool, so I think I finished off really strong, even though they ended up shortening the swim. It was only 6 lengths (300m) instead of 7 (350m). I wish it had been longer because I'm better at swimming and I may have been able to pass more people if I'd had more room. my swim split was 8 minutes 4.92 seconds, but that included the walk from the transition area into the pool. All in all I really enjoyed doing the triathlon and would like to do another one. It was a really good workout and I felt a sense of accomplishment for having done it. I definitely need to focus on improving my biking skills, though. :) Overall, I finished 374th (162nd for gender and 51st for class-F 25-29)
